The dawn of the pandemic brought fear and anxiety to hospital patients and staff. In the midst of disorientation, patients found comfort through the care provided by compassionate Nurse Raveen, with her stunning blue hair and warm smile.

Mark recalled harrowing, lengthy shifts at a hospital struggling to meet the needs of patients experiencing the new coronavirus disease. Repeated wear of ill-fitting ‘disposable’ masks left him and coworkers with the marks you see on his cheeks.

As I was walking into the reopened museum where I volunteer, I was greeted by smiling employee Janel. We talked about the safety measures enacted by staff to keep each other, and now visitors, as healthy as possible.
Janel says, “I look back at the frustration, pain, and sadness of the world that we’ve overcome …today (at last) I can smile.”
