After pursuing the very practical, and rewarding profession of nursing, Donna Cramer finally made time to pursue her passion - art. She began her studies at NOVA, the Corcoran, and is a graduate of Heatherley’s Art College (London) intensive 2 year Portraiture program. She loves painting portraits. Her work hangs in many homes, here and abroad. Her paintings are frequently accepted in Art League Gallery shows. If you enjoy viewing art, she may look familiar - she is a volunteer docent tour guide at a couple of Smithsonian art museums. If you've tried your hand at life drawing, she may have monitored your session at the Art League School. Although she thoroughly enjoyed the time her self portrait hung in a staff/volunteer art show at the Smithsonian, her very favorite accepted entry was The Royal Society of Portrait Painters 1998 Annual Show, and she just had to go to London to attend the opening.
As part of December 2020 Old Town Holiday Lamp Post Art Walk, her art instillation “Angel of Liberty bearing Masks,” (an art piece offering free face coverings to all), was prominently displayed on Union Street. She was delighted that over 200 members of the public chose to collect a free mask.
